Kieran Walsh - editorial!!

- work for start ups

TIPS:
- work to deadlines
- don't pigeon-hole yourself
- intern!
- nail the production basics (eg. all adobe software, 3D, using a camera) 
- email etiquette 

- make it easier for people to see your work = PDF attached 
- first jobs will normally be shit jobs: this isn't final


INTERNSHIPS:
- helps build a network 
- improves industry skills
- defines what you do and don't like doing
- leads to potential jobs 

- Get IG/Site/ PDF ready 
- Make an email hitlist of people I admire in the industry
- Go to events, parties, talks, launches etc. 

PITCHING YOURSELF
- Be versatile = print, digital, video, social etc. = PREFERRED
- or specialise = eg. "digital art for editorial"

ATTRIBUTE OTHER THAN CREATIVE 
- time management 
- team work 
- organising projects
- understanding business 

TO CONSIDER 
- Be future-proof = digital and technologies will become more popular = eg. animation, AR
- Is this industry going to be growing = print? 

TYPES OF POSITIONS 
- in-house designer (eg. nike)
signle focus but boring 

- agency 
clients but small fish, wont get recognised 

- yourself (studio)
freedom but risks for money

PORTFOLIO
- Diverse projects!! Show the interests and enthusiasm and personality within portfolio 
- what's new what's next, influences, trends, insight. 
- 'Why did you apply here?' = create a connection, shared interests 
- show you are considered
- detail-orientated
- empathetic = tailor portfolio that considers the person you're sending it to 

INTERVIEWS
- weaknesses?
- how does this work show...?
- how do you prioritise?
- how do you over come stress?
- how do your interests align?
- what role will suit in 10 years?
