CREATIVE REPORT DESIGN CHANGES

= FLAG ISSUES 

= legibility is an issue in the flag design 

= making it larger than A0 is not necessarily a good way of solving the issue 

= redesigned the flag so that the type was bigger, the bitmapped areas did not interact with the type and the fonts chosen were more sans serif bold which was more readable 

= Doing a publication ensures the interview can be read properly 

= A decorative flag that goes alongside with it means I can fulfill both design ideas 

= Would like to wrap the flag around the publication but it might look less messy to have it folded and wrapped with a belly band 

PUBLICATION

= Mirrored at the middle = templo in white on black paper = rejane in black on white paper other way round 

= COVER = varnish negative space for TEMPLO side = varnish positive space on Rejane side

= As COVER is wrap around and there is two different colours on the front and back, the black side will be printed black rather than stock paper 

= Rest of the black pages should be black paper with white printed = ORDER BLACK PAPER 

= Should be saddle stitched isntead of perfect bound as it's all about being hand made and with a human touch like the involvement of the flag 

= Means pages need to be spreads 

COVER PRINTING = If the pages are A5, the cover spread will be A4 and therefore needs to be printed on A3

= This can be varnished 

= Can it be double sided printed on AND varnished in digital print? Would be nice to have content printed on the inside of the cover 

= James confirmed this can be done 

= But depends on design of inside cover and paper stock as he hasn't tested it that much 

= Created an alternative design for a transluscent page to be inside as the first and last page of the publication 

FLAG DESIGN 

= no use of serif as it's more difficult to read on the flag 
= larger text 
= added white backgrounds to some bitmapped images so that they can be seen more clearly eg. green image of rejane in studio 
= got rid of the luminescent type for the Rejane bottom type of T+R as it doesn't fit witht eh aesthetic of the publication = stroke is more relevant to style in publication 
= Although both items are different, book is monochrome and simple and the flag is bright and colourful, they need to have consistency between each other 
= As the publicaiton has these small rectangles between each line to show a sense of system and grid and simplicity, placed these next to each name 
= End of each interview in publication also has longer rectangle of the gradient of each person on the flag

SUSIE RESPONSE TO WHAT GSM STOCK TO USE IN THE CREATIVE REPORT 

You might as well use the thinner, 80gsm paper for the pages if it's a nice quality paper.

Up to 180gsm for the cover will be fine.
